Dog Walking
Currently our service area extends from the Capitol east to 17th St., south to M Street SE, and north to H St NE.  We are also accepting clients in the area surrounding the Nationals baseball stadium.

Duration of midday walks is 20-30 minutes depending on weather, doggie stamina, etc. Walks are shortened in inclement weather, on code red days and in temperatures below 30 degrees and above 90 degrees. During inclement weather, please have the leash and a towel by the door, and be sure walkways and steps are passable.

Midday walks occur between the hours of 11 AM and 3 PM. Special arrangements can be made for alternate times.

Notice of additions or cancellations must be provided no later than 5 PM on the night before the scheduled walk. Cancellations for mid-day walks must be received by 5PM on the business day prior to the scheduled service--otherwise full fees apply.

Although pet sitting may be available, regularly-scheduled mid-day walks are not given on New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day following Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

Prospective clients will be subject to a two-week probationary period during which the dog’s suitability for walking in groups will be evaluated. We may recommend the purchase of a gentle leader head or body harness following the evaluation period.

We do not walk aggressive dogs or dogs with a history of biting. Any incident involving biting will be grounds for termination. All dogs must provide up-to-date records of rabies vaccination before starting service.

We ask that you provide us with two sets of keys to your home. One will be kept in our office in case of emergency; the other is for the use of the walker on a daily basis. You may give the copies of your keys directly to the walker at the initial interview or you may arrange to drop them off at our office. Both sets of keys must be provided within two weeks of the sevice start date. We can also arrange to make a second set for you.

Dog Boarding
Doggie pick-ups from and drop-offs to the boarder’s home will be scheduled at our mutual convenience. Please call immediately if you cannot meet the scheduled time.

When bringing your dog for boarding, we ask that you provide enough food for the duration of the stay. Also, please bring your dog’s bed, a favorite toy and a crate if necessary.

Boarding services include three walks per day, feeding and administering medication if necessary.

We ask that you make arrangements for boarding as far in advance as possible. Spaces fill up quickly, especially around holidays. If you need to cancel, we require three days notice. There are no refunds or credits for early returns.

Doggie day care is provided from 9 AM to 5 PM, or within an hour window of these times. The day will include a full midday walk.

General
We prefer to be contacted via e-mail, which is monitored from the hours of 9 AM to 6 PM on weekdays and checked twice per day on weekends - if you have an emergency outside of these times, please call.

All emails from our scheduling system (confirmations, invoices and messages regarding scheduling changes) come from the email address system1@professionalpetsitter.com. Please add this to your address book.
